Call for Paper International Seminar on English Language and Teaching (SELT) The English Department of Faculty of Languages and Arts of Universitas Negeri Padang (FBS UNP) Padang will have the  3rd Annual International Seminar on English Language Teaching (SELT-3) on May 27-28, 2015 with the theme:

Shaping the New Trends of English Teaching and Studies

We kindly invite all English teachers, lecturers, and researchers from various institution to be one of the speakers in this seminar. Call for Papers and Participants We kindly invite experts, researchers, lecturers, teachers, practitioners, and students to present scientific papers under the scope of the general theme and participate in the seminar. The papers can be also related to the following sub-topics:

  1. New Trends in English Language Teaching;
  2. Linguistics and English Language Teaching;
  3. Studies on English Linguistics;
  4. Literature and English Language Teaching;

Abstract & Paper Submission You are kindly invited to participate in this seminar. Please send us the abstract to committee. Abstract rules:

  • Provide abstract with title, name of the writer, institution, email address, and mobile phone number
  • Abstract is written in English for about 200-250 words length
  • Key words 3-5 words
  • Use ms office word, times new roman 12, single space, rtf
  • Send abstract to: and please cc to: before 20 April 2015.
  • The committee will announce the result of abstract selection on 5 May 2015.
  • The selected presenters should submit full paper before 27 May 2015.

Full paper rules:

  • The full paper includes abstract, Introduction, Discussion, Conclusion, and Bibliography
  • Full paper is written in English for about 7-10 pages length Use ms office word, times new roman 12, single space, margin 4,4,3,3

International Seminar on Languages and Arts (ISLA)

Human beings are intelligent and noble creatures who have culture and civilization, as the result they are able to create their life to be better and better. Then, human civilization also creates norms that can be guidance for the society in order to gain dignity. In this case, people have to maintain and develop a kind of “software” of humanity to be able to behave in a good manner, and that software is popularly known as “character”. In order to build and develop a human being with a good character, it requires an education process. Besides, maintaining and developing a good human being can be conducted in various aspects of human life, such as, culture including, through languages, arts, and its learning activities.

A person who has good character is a noble creature, because he/she has “akhlak” (good ethics or moral). Therefore, building and developing character through languages, arts, and culture become part of a great job of “humanization process” in this modern era. Based on those reasons, the Faculty of Languages and Arts of Universitas Negeri Padang (FBS UNP) has a strong will and commited to run an The Third International Seminar on Language and Arts (ISLA-3) under the theme “Character Building through  Language, Culture, Arts, and Their Learning”.

1. Language, arts, and culture studies, and their relationship with character building
2. Language learning, arts, and culture for building character and scientific attitude
3. Language, arts, and culture in humanistic development and character;
4. Curriculum on Languages learning, arts, and culture in global challenge and character building
5. Policy on studies of Languages, arts, and culture and their learning.
